新加坡大都会管弦乐团

大都会管弦乐团（MFO）是新加坡唯一完全独立运营的专业管弦乐团。乐团前身为 2007 至 2012 年担任新加坡艺术节驻节乐团的新加坡节庆管弦乐团，于 2013 年正式成立。

乐团曾与谭盾、郎朗、曺秀美、Hans Zimmer、Sarah Brightman、喜多郎、Ed Sheeran、Paul Anka、刘家昌、Il Divo、孙燕姿、林俊杰、新加坡国际艺术节、中国国家大剧院、韩国国家歌剧院、Gamelan Garasi Seni Benawa及Synthony等音乐家及艺术团体合作同台演出。

乐团还开创性地将卖座大片以电影放映音乐会的演出形式引入亚洲，出演《魔戒》的亚洲和东南亚首演，并续演《哈利波特》、《星球大战》、及多部迪斯尼经典动画影片系列中的多场电影放映音乐会。乐团演出过的其他国际文化特许经营权形式的演出项目包括《Final Fantasy》、《Kingdom Hearts》、《Disney on Classic》、《ONE PIECE》、《Elden Ring》、《光之哨兵》、《Free Fire》和《原神》。

乐团也与新加坡芭蕾团保持合作联盟关系，共同呈现经典完整版芭蕾舞剧。

音乐会演出外，乐团还透过与欧洲工商管理学院（INSEAD）、李光耀公共政策学院和亚太德勤大学的合作，将乐团作为高绩效组织的模范，应用于高阶管理领导培训，开创地区先河。

Metropolitan Festival Orchestra

The Metropolitan Festival Orchestra (MFO) is Singapore’s only fully-independent professional symphony orchestra. With its roots in the acclaimed Singapore Festival Orchestra (SFO), resident orchestra of the Singapore Arts Festival from 2007 to 2012, the MFO was founded in 2013 as the spiritual successor of the SFO.

Notable collaborations include performances with Tan Dun, Lang Lang, Sumi Jo, Hans Zimmer, Sarah Brightman, Kitaro, Ed Sheeran, Paul Anka, Liu Jia Chang, Il Divo, Stefanie Sun, JJ Lin, Kygo, China National Centre for the Performing Arts, Korea National Opera, Gamelan Garasi Seni Benawa, Singapore International Festival of Arts, and Synthony.

The MFO is also the pioneer in bringing the immersive blockbuster film-concert format to Asian audiences, presenting the Asian and Southeast Asian premieres of the Lord of the Rings, and performing numerous film-concerts from the Harry Potter, Star Wars and Disney classic animated film franchises. Other global cultural franchise presentations that the MFO has performed in include those of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Disney on Classic, ONE PIECE, Elden Ring, Sentinels of Light, Free Fire and Genshin Impact.

Through its strategic partnership with the Singapore Ballet, the MFO performs in iconic full-length classical ballet productions as part of Singapore Ballet’s annual seasons.

Besides its concert performances, the MFO is also a regional leader in applying the dynamics of the orchestra as a high performance organisation to senior executive leadership training through its partnerships with INSEAD, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and Deloitte University Asia Pacific.

陈⼦乐

新加坡指挥家陈子乐是新加坡大都会管弦乐团（MFO）和屡获殊荣的音乐创作者管弦乐团（OMM）的音乐总监。2020年，他与OMM在新加坡首次演出理查德·瓦格纳的《女武神》，与国际知名艺术家合作，获得国内外好评，英国《歌剧》杂志称赞陈子乐“引领呈现了丰富的表现力，并从成功激发了音乐家们强大而自然的音乐力量。”

陈子乐指挥OMM演出的马勒第八交响曲，以及与MFO和郎朗合作的Sing50音乐会，均被《海峡时报》评为2015年最佳音乐会。在其他评论中，德国《Der neue Merker》指出“听众仿佛经历了一段伟大的时间和精神之旅”。《西澳大利亚报》盛赞他对斯特拉文斯基《春之祭》的演绎“陈子乐在指挥台上创造了奇迹……这是一场精彩绝伦的演出。”《美国唱片指南》评论他在《马勒第二交响曲“复活”》中的指挥“对马勒风格有着全面而深入的理解”。《美国古典音乐之声》将他对埃尔加《音乐创作者》的演绎描述为“令人叹为观止的音浪和引人入胜的美丽瞬间”。

作为教育家，陈子乐是新加坡国立大学（NUS）杨秀桃音乐学院的创始教师团队成员之一，现任副院长及副教授，他教授指挥和领导力，并因在学院合奏项目中的创始贡献而广受赞誉。在国际上，陈子乐是澳大利亚国际夏季管弦乐学院的创始首席指挥，并于2020年和2022年指挥了澳大利亚青年管弦乐团的全国音乐营。此外，他曾在美国皮博迪学院和英国伦敦皇家音乐学院举办指挥大师班，并在新加坡国立大学李光耀公共政策学院的高级管理课程中举办指挥领导力工作坊。2019年，他还担任了牛津指挥研究国际会议的评选委员会成员。自1990年代以来，陈子乐一直是西澳大利亚青年管弦乐团的常任客座指挥。

Chan Tze Law

Singaporean conductor Chan Tze Law is Music Director of Singapore's Metropolitan Festival Orchestra (MFO) and the award-winning Orchestra of The Music Makers (OMM). In 2020 he conducted OMM in Singapore’s long awaited premiere of Richard Wagner's Die Walküre with a star studded international cast to national and international acclaim, with Opera (UK) proclaiming that Chan “elicited a multitude of expressive nuances and drew immense power without force from his musicians.”

Chan's performances of Mahler's 8th symphony with OMM and Sing50 concerts with the MFO and Lang Lang were named 'Best concerts of 2015' by Singapore's Sunday Times. In other reviews, Germany's Der neue Merker observed that “listeners felt they have concluded a great journey of time and spirit". The West Australian lavished praise on his performance of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring “Tze Law (Chan) did wonders from the podium…. It was a tour de force.” American Record Guide remarked that that in Mahler's Resurrection symphony he led “with a full understanding of the Mahler idiom”. Chan's performance of Elgar’s The Music Makers was described by Classical Voice America as 'breathtaking walls of sound and intimate moments of haunting beauty',

Chan has appeared extensively with major orchestras and soloists in China and the Asia pacific region and his concerts and CD recordings have been broadcast on Australia's ABC Classic FM, UK's BBC Radio 3 and featured regularly on Singapore Airlines Krisworld In-flight Classical Music selection.

As a pedagogue, Chan is Vice-Dean, Associate Professor and founding faculty member of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore (NUS) where he teaches conducting and leadership, and is widely credited for his founding role of the conservatory’s large ensembles programme. Internationally, Chan was the founding chief conductor of the Australian International Summer Orchestral Institute, and conducted at the Australian Youth Orchestra's National Music Camp in 2020 and 2022. He has given masterclasses in conducting at the Peabody Institute, USA, and Royal Academy of Music, London and also conducted workshops on leadership in conducting at the Senior Management programme of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, NUS. In 2019 he served on the selection committee of the Oxford Conducting Institute International Conducting Studies Conference. Chan has also been a regular guest conductor with the Western Australian Youth Orchestra since the 1990’s.

Chan holds bachelor and doctoral degrees in conducting and a Masters degree in Arts and Cultural Management. Originally a Royal College of Music scholar trained as a violinist and chamber musician, his main teachers also included luminary authors on conducting Christopher Adey and Norman Del Mar. Chan made his Singapore conducting debut with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra in 2001. In 2018 he received the Composers and Authors Society of Singapore’s Artistic excellence award for his contributions to the Singapore music community. In 2023 Chan was appointed concurrently to lead and reimagine the university’s Center for the Arts, where he is the architect behind the new NUS Arts for All framework. Chan is a regular participant in activities by the conservatory’s partners at the Association of European Conservertoires (AEC), the Pacific Alliance of Music Schools (PAMS), the Southeast Asia directors of Music schools (SEADOM).
